Part beer koozie, part kitty litter container, RuckBucket aims to be a three-pack in one unusual design.

Transport firewood, chill 17 beers, and hoist your bike — Muul's RuckBucket is one of the most unique backpacks we've ever seen.

The brand claims the RuckBucket is an improvement over both traditional packs and 5-gallon buckets. And that makes for a decent cooler to boot! It's a simple idea. The 5.3-gallon food-safe bucket is wrapped in a 500-denier nylon shell with lash points and a pair of shoulder straps.

But the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, according to the brand's Kickstarter, which will go live on June 4. “The RuckBucket turns out to be the most durable backpack in the world,” claims RuckBucket designer Mike Whitehead.

Whitehead and the Mule team promote the RuckBucket as a “shockproof gear protector, waterproof river bag, and giant beer koozie.”

In fact, promotional images show the RuckBuket functioning as an impromptu camping chair, not to mention supporting a dirt bike. It also doesn't seem to have a waterproof zipper, but the brand claims it can store your camera gear and keep it dry. But we haven't tried it, so we don't know if the RuckBucket will protect your items from submersion.

Finally, the RuckBucket fits a 5-gallon insulated “space blanket” beverage insert. There are no claims about how long items will stay cold. However, Muuru again displays some unlikely abilities, including a backpack full of crayfish. While you won't expect it to outperform a real insulated cooler, the removable sleeve adds a bit of versatility to the bucket-in-a-backpack design.

For added convenience, the RuckBucket has plenty of daisy chains, lash points, and a hidden zippered pocket on the front. Additionally, Muul also sells a snug-fitting water bottle holder and a removable half-gallon accessory pouch.

Pricing has not yet been announced. However, a preview on Kickstarter indicates that the limited early buy-in will be less than $100.
