New Balance and Miller Lite create the Dad Shoe Beer Koozie

Cliches change over time. When I was growing up, Miller Lite, released in the 1970s, was definitely the “dad” brand beer. And (truthfully) my dad wore New Balance sneakers. Now that I'm a dad, you're more likely to find me wearing gum soles and drinking an IPA, just like my other dad friends. But I'll always have a soft spot for NB and ML because nostalgia for days gone by is still a part of my life. In this regard, Miller Lite and New Balance have achieved a breakthrough with the collaboration announced today. It's his shoesie, a single New Balance sneaker specifically sized to fit a beer rather than a foot.

Billed as the “first-ever shoe-meets-koozies” and created, of course, in time for Father's Day, these limited-edition shoosies look and feel surprisingly similar to sneakers. Made from the same material used in the classic New Balance 624 Trainer, the brand writes that it's “nearly the same as the 624 Trainer, but perfect for beer,” and features a “rubber sole and breathable leather.” It's a feature. [that] Keep your beer cold, supported and comfortable. ”

“As Original Light Beer, we're proud to celebrate all things beer and all things daddy, and Shoesie does just that,” said Sophia Colucci, vice president of marketing for Miller Family Brands. said. “When we came up with the shoesie, he knew there was only one brand that could make it happen, and that was New Balance, the makers of the classic ‘dad shoe.’ I want to join you in thanking all the dads who keep mowing the grass and grilling. Eating those perfect meats, agreeing to the family dog, and of course raising Miller Lite are all things you can do all at once. ”

Jeff McAdams, New Balance's vice president of global marketing, agreed, adding, “The Shoesie brings together two brands that proudly celebrate their connection to fatherhood.”

So how do you get a shoesie for dad? Unfortunately, unless you're one of the “handful of iconic influencer dads or dads known for their love of dad fashion,” the only way to buy these shoes for your beer is at TheShoezie.com Enter the Father's Day Sweepstakes.

But hey, it's no big deal if you don't win. Here's your chance to practice yet another modern fatherhood cliché: keep an eye on your kids while you overpay for collectibles on your girlfriend's eBay app on your phone. Modern fatherhood is pretty cool…right?
